About the album Ummagumma

What can one assume about the band that presents a double album with the incomprehensible title Ummagumma and has a song titled Several Species Of Small Furry Animals Gathered Together In A Cave And Grooving With A Pict. This is the fourth album by Pink Floyd, released in late 1969.

The first record is live recorded and contains a key part of their live performances at the time, and the second contains new songs. In fact, the four members of the group have almost evenly distributed the forty minutes of the second record, and each has used a quarter of the time to present their own composition. Here is where Pink Floyd pushes experimental music to its limits. For those wondering what the word Ummagumma means, it is a slang word from the Cambridge area and means "sex" or "having sex" (!)

The album initially won over critics, reached No. 5 in Britain and the Netherlands, but ultimately failed to secure a place among Pink Floyd's most popular albums. Ummagumma is the last album on which both themselves and the band's name appear on the cover.
