About the album Sheik Yerbouti

In 1979, Frank Zappa released the album Sheik Yerbouti. It was released on March 3, 1979. It was the first album on his own record label, Zappa Records, and is his best-selling album worldwide, with sales exceeding 2,000,000 copies. The title is a pun on the disco hit by KC and the Sunshine Band, Shake Your Booty.

The album was released on March 3, 1979. It was the first album on the record label, Zappa Records, which belonged to him. It is a "hybrid" album. It consists mainly of live recordings (1977-1978) from London (Hammersmith Odeon) and New York (Palladium), onto which extensive studio overdubs were added. It combines Comedy Rock, Progressive Rock, experimental rock, and parodies of the disco culture of the time, such as Dancin' Fool.

It reached No. 21 in the US and No. 32 in the UK. In Europe, it achieved greater success, reaching No. 4 in Sweden and No. 5 in Norway.
