About the album Reach Out
The fifth studio album by the Four Tops titled "Reach Out" from 1967 can easily fool someone into believing they are listening to a best-of compilation by the group from Detroit. The record label Motown releases one of the best albums in its vast catalog. The soul and rhythm & blues music of the 1960s is at its best. Songs full of joy, crafted with special mastery to win the listener from the first moment. A significant role is played by the crystal-clear production that the album boasts, given the time of its release.
In "Reach Out," one can find original compositions as well as excellent covers adapted to soul standards. The Four Tops perform here songs by Holland–Dozier–Holland, Neil Diamond, Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson, and Tim Hardin.
The album reached No. 11 in the U.S. and No. 4 in Britain, where it went silver. Its six singles all reached the Top-20 of the main Billboard chart, something extremely difficult for albums by black artists in those years in the U.S.
