Drift by Flotsam and Jetsam
About the album Drift
Drift is the fifth studio album by Flotsam and Jetsam, which was released on April 25, 1995, by MCA Records. The recording took place at Village Productions in Tornillo, Texas between 1994 and 1995.
Drift marked a shift for the band, incorporating elements that deviate from the traditional thrash metal of their early years. It combines heavy metal with thrash influences while presenting elements of alternative metal and groove metal. Thus, the sound is more experimental and mature, with an emphasis on melodies, "smart" rhythmic patterns, and the distinctive performances of Eric A.K. Production and recording were handled by Neil Kernon, while mixing was done by Michael Barbiero at Conway Studios in Hollywood.
The album is dedicated to the memory of Jeff Ward (1962-1993), brother of bassist Jason Ward, who was a drummer in bands such as Nine Inch Nails and Ministry.
