About the album H2O
H2O was the eleventh album by Daryl Hall & John Oates. The album was released in 1982 and was one of the duo's biggest commercial successes. The musical orientation of the album leans towards pop music with elements of blue-eyed soul or even soft rock. In fact, Daryl Hall & John Oates followed early 1980s practices to appeal to the large audience of the American market and apparently succeeded.
The album started its journey on the Billboard chart at No. 42 and reached No. 3. It remained on this chart for 68 weeks and sold 2,000,000 copies in the U.S. alone. The album reached No. 1 in Canada and No. 24 in the United Kingdom. In short, H2O was an international success, and certainly its first single, Maneater, propelled the album to great heights.
The title of the album H2O is a pun and a play on the initials of Hall & Oates.
