About the album When I Was Born For The 7th Time
With their Indian roots and the musical influences of their parents' homeland, Cornershop, who incorporate these influences into their compositions, delivered a very interesting album in 1997 titled When I Was Born For The 7th Time.
In their third album, Cornershop offers an album that moves musically between raga rock, as the compositions are filled with sounds of sitar, tambura, and tabla, all traditional eastern musical instruments whose sounds meld with electronica and Britpop. The album closes with a cover of the Beatles' Norwegian Wood. The biggest success of the album was the single Brimful of Asha, which became an international hit, drawing attention to Cornershop from many people across different countries in those years.
The album reached No. 17 in the United Kingdom, and its sales exceeded 100,000, resulting in Cornershop earning their one and only gold record in their homeland.
