In Color by Cheap Trick
About the album In Color
In Color is the second album by Cheap Trick, which was released on September 1, 1977, by Epic Records. It is considered one of the most important works of power pop. It combines the pop melodies of the '60s with the hard rock energy of the '70s.
The album was recorded from May 23 to May 27, 1977, at Kendun Recorders studios in Los Angeles. Producer Tom Werman gave the album a more "polished" and commercial sound compared to their rougher debut. Guitarist Rick Nielsen wrote almost all the tracks, with some collaborations with Tom Petersson on You're All Talk and Southern Girls. The single I Want You To Want Me, released in September 1977, was not an immediate success, but the live version on the At Budokan album the following year became a worldwide hit!
In Color became the band's first album to enter the Billboard 200, reaching No. 73, and has been certified platinum by the RIAA. Additionally, the album experienced massive success in Japan, turning the group into "superstars" in the country!
