About the album In The Land Of Grey And Pink
In early 1971, the British progressive rock band Caravan released their third studio album titled In The Land Of Grey And Pink. The compositions mainly belong to Richard Sinclair, although this does not mean that the other members of the band did not contribute to the creation of the album. The album would become the last to feature all four founding members of the group until 1982, when they would all reunite again.
In The Land Of Grey And Pink, although it leans towards progressive rock, also incorporates many elements of psychedelic rock in its sound. For the production of the album, they sought the help of Dave Hitchcock, as they had faced many problems trying to produce their previous album on their own.
The album did not become a major success either in Britain or elsewhere. However, it is an album where Caravan showcase their talent, especially in the nearly 23-minute suite titled Nine Feet Underground, which dominates the second side of the album. David Sinclair played almost all the solos heard in this composition, which is divided into five parts.
