Prolonging The Magic by Cake
About the album Prolonging The Magic
The album Prolonging The Magic by Californian band Cake arrives as their third studio work in 1998. Cake continue in their third album to move in the musical style of their two previous efforts, namely somewhere between alternative rock and alternative country with a considerable inclination for experimentation.
John McCrea, the main composer, singer, and guitarist of the band, becomes the producer of the album, while Vince DiFiore gives the songs a special touch with his trumpet playing. From the album, the singles Never There and Let Me Go stood out. The opening Satan Is My Motor is the reason why the album was released with the distinctive "Parental Advisory" sticker, as the song was accused of promoting Satanism (!)
Cake's album reached No. 33 on the Billboard chart, while its sales in the U.S. led it to go platinum once.
