About the album New Morning
A few months after the release of the rather disappointing Self Portrait, again in 1970, Bob Dylan released a second album, New Morning, whose reviews were found at the opposite end as it is considered among his very good and noteworthy works. The musical style of the album is somewhere between country rock and folk rock.
The vast majority of the songs on New Morning were almost ready at the time his previous album was released, so this close timing of New Morning's release with Self Portrait was not done on purpose for Dylan to counteract the bad reviews. The album's production is by Bob Johnston.
New Morning reached No. 7 on the Billboard and No. 1 in the United Kingdom. The album's sales are estimated to be around 500,000 worldwide.
