About the album Empire Burlesque
For the recording needs of his twenty-third album, Bob Dylan gathers an army of very remarkable musicians. Thus, among many others, Al Kooper, Mick Taylor and Ronnie Wood of the Rolling Stones, Mike Campbell of the Heartbreakers, and bassist Robbie Shakespeare pass through the studio.
The musical style of Empire Burlesque moves between pop & rock, blues rock, while in songs like I'll Remember You or Emotionally Yours, gospel music has its honor. The album is yet another attempt by Dylan to sound like the successful rock stars of that time.
The production of the record was done by the artist himself. The album charted even lower on the Billboard chart compared to his previous record, as it reached No. 33. It was now obvious that his audience had turned its back on him.
