Asia made their debut studio appearance with their self-titled first album and experienced unexpected success not only in their homeland of England, but also in the U.S.A. In reality, Asia was a supergroup consisting of former members of YES, Uriah Heap, Emerson, Lake & Palmer.
Asia recorded their debut album with the progressive past of each member in mind – clearly – but they do not fail to incorporate the prevailing trends of the early eighties in the pop/rock music scene. The success of the first single Heat Of The Moment would be unprecedented.
It is estimated that the album's sales have exceeded 10,000,000 copies.
