About the album Goodbye Jumbo
In 1990, the Waterboys were a distant past for Karl Wallinger, who was presenting to his audience his second studio effort titled Goodbye Jumbo, an album that won over both the public and critics at the time of its release. Goodbye Jumbo is filled with pop/rock compositions of English Brit aesthetic, while it also has a touch of neo-psychedelia.
The compositions belong to Karl Wallinger, who sings and plays almost all the instruments in collaboration with some others who mainly helped him with technical issues. In the song Sweet Soul Dream, Sinéad O'Connor provides backing vocals.
Sales of Goodbye Jumbo in Great Britain reached 60,000 and it went silver, while there was some success in the U.S.A., reaching No. 73 on the Billboard.
