About the album Second Toughest In The Infants
In 1996, the British group Underworld, capitalizing on the triumphant proportions of their composition Born Slippy, which was heard in the film “Trainspotting” the same year, released their fourth LP titled Second Toughest In The Infants, which would become one of the greatest successes of their career.
Second Toughest In The Infants is an album filled with techno and electronic music compositions. The long-duration compositions make it a progressive house album. For example, the duration of Juanita, which opens the album, exceeds 16 minutes (!) A shorter version of it became the third single of the album. A common characteristic of all the compositions is the extremely “aggressive” and rough beats of all the compositions.
The album reached No. 9 in the United Kingdom, sold 100,000 copies there, and over the years managed to establish itself as one of the most remarkable techno albums of the 1990s.
