I Fought The Law by The Bobby Fuller Four
About the album I Fought The Law
The album I Fought The Law was the second and last album of the band Bobby Fuller Four. The band released the cover of the Crickets' song, I Fought The Law, and with their own rendition managed to lead it to No. 9 on the Billboard. This happened in October 1965.
Due to this unexpected success of the single, the band's label, Mustang, asked the band to release a regular album immediately. However, the band did not have enough new material to fill an LP. Thus, seven songs from their first record, I Fought The Law, were selected, four more were prepared, and the album was released in February 1966.
Ultimately, Mustang's plan did not succeed, judging by its No. 144 on the Billboard. The value of the entire album begins and ends with the titular song, as it became one of the most iconic songs of the decade and was later covered by many others, while due to its title, it had great appeal among many punk rock bands of the following decade and beyond.
