Despite the release of Where It Is in 1987, which was a collection of songs, Happiness is the first regular studio album by The Beloved.
Their sound is dance-oriented and embedded in the Manchester scene that dominated Britain at that time. The title of Happiness fully reflects the lyrics of the songs, and indeed, listening to the record conveys that feeling.
