With The Beatles by The Beatles
About the album With The Beatles
The second studio album from the group from Liverpool was initially released in the U.S. in 1963 and contained eight original songs: seven compositions by Lennon/McCartney and one by George Harrison, along with six covers, including Chuck Berry's Roll Over Beethoven and the Marvelettes' Please Mister Postman. With The Beatles was recorded between July and October 1963.
During the composition period of With The Beatles, the song I Wanna Be Your Man was created, which the Beatles gave to the Rolling Stones, who released it as a single and it became their first hit. The album cover was a work by Robert Freeman, who was invited by Brian Epstein, the group's manager, to create the cover as he had liked his work with the black and white photographs of John Coltrane on various of the latter's albums.
With The Beatles reached No.1 in Great Britain, but in Billboard it stopped at No.179.
