About the album Smiley Smile
Smiley Smile is released in September 1967 and becomes the twelfth studio release by the Beach Boys, produced by themselves. Smiley Smile is an extremely psychedelic album, 100% aligned with the spirit of the time that prevailed on the West Coast of the USA at that time. It is so well placed in its era to the extent that listening to it is suggested as the ideal way for someone who has used LSD to return to reality after their "trip" (!)
Behind all the compositions of the album is primarily Brian Wilson. The whole album was "built" on the success achieved by the single Good Vibrations, which followed after the huge success of the album Pet Sounds. After Good Vibrations reached No. 1 on the Billboard and many other countries as a single in October 1966, the Beach Boys included it on Smiley Smile, which contained recordings made between February 1966 and July 1967.
The record has gone platinum in the USA and twice platinum in the United Kingdom. At this point, we should say that the album's reviews in the USA were negative in contrast to the United Kingdom, where both the audience and critics embraced it.
