About the album Declaration
The album Declaration is the debut studio album of the Welsh band The Alarm, which established them as one of the most passionate rock bands of the 1980s. It was released in February 1984.
The record was recorded at the legendary Abbey Road Studios and Good Earth Studios in London, between July and November 1983. The producer of the album was Alan Shacklock. The album is characterized by a unique combination of punk energy and folk approach, with acoustic guitars played with the intensity of electrics being the dominant element. It is often described as "Combat Folk-Rock," with lyrics that have social and political extensions, drawing inspiration from Bob Dylan and The Clash. Sixty Eight Guns, Shout To The Devil, and Where Were You Hiding When The Storm Broke? are some of the standout tracks from the album that followed the band throughout their career.
Declaration reached No 6 on the UK charts and No 50 in the USA. It has sold over 60,000 copies in the United Kingdom.
