About the album Solitude Standing
The second studio album by American singer-songwriter Suzanne Vega is Solitude Standing, and its release took place in 1987. This album was the reason she became known to a wide audience in the late 1980s.
Solitude Standing is an album where Vega's successful performance dominates, combined with folk rock melodies and quite a few alternative rock elements. The album begins with the a cappella rendition of Tom's Diner and closes with the instrumental part of the composition. It's like the song is split in two (!) A few years later, a dance remix of the song by DNA followed, which became a hit in clubs in the very early '90s.
The great success of the album Luka was what led Solitude Standing to sell over 2,000,000 copies worldwide.
