About the album Life
The British band Simply Red complete ten years of discography with their fifth album, Life, which is released in 1995. Life will come and close this decade-long cycle of the band as keyboardist Fritz Gerald and guitarist Heitor TP will leave the Simply Red lineup. The end of this era will be sealed the following year with the release of a Greatest Hits. From then on, Simply Red will seem to be the band that accompanies Mick Hucknall.
Life is an album that navigates the waters of blue-eyed soul, but many elements of beat and dance music have been incorporated into its sound in an effort to resonate with the pop music trends of the mid-90s. The album's production is by Mick Hucknall and producer Stewart Levine. The first single was Fairground, a song intended to be heard in clubs. Three other singles followed. The fourth single was We're In This Together, which was the official song of the 1996 UEFA European Football Championship, held in the UK stadiums from June 8 to June 30, 1996.
Life was a huge success for Simply Red. Album sales are estimated to be close to 5,500,000 copies worldwide. The success of the album was primarily pan-European since the No.75 spot on the Billboard cannot be considered significant.
