1987 will be the year when Savatage from Florida will release their fourth album titled Hall Of The Mountain King and will gain a more progressive sound.
Hall Of The Mountain King is considered one of the best heavy metal albums of all time, although at its time it did not manage to go above No116 on the Billboard. The figure dominating the cover might remind someone of the ancient Greek God of Gods and humans, Zeus. It was created by Gary Smith.
With this particular album, Savatage began their collaboration with Paul O'Neill on the production of their records, who convinced them to create a thematic album for the first time.
