The 1980s would begin with the best omens for the band from Illinois, USA. Hi Infidelity would be their ninth album in their ten-year career. REO Speedwagon had no idea of the success that would come with Hi Infidelity as they were recording it from June to October 1980.
It was tailor-made for the American market, for what the American white audience wanted to hear, and it 100% achieved its goal. Fifteen consecutive weeks at No.1 on Billboard and 10,000,000 copies in sales.
The "provocative" cover for its time also played a role in the album's enormous success.
