About the album Vanishing Point
Three years after Give Out But Don't Give Up, Primal Scream return to more electronic musical paths with Vanishing Point in 1997. The album title, according to Bobby Gillespie, was inspired by the American action film of the same name from 1971. The album needed about three months for recording and preparation, all done at Chalk Farm Studios in London.
Beyond the electronic sound that runs throughout the album, its timbre is heavily influenced by music genres like dub or krautrock. Some compositions offer gentle moments like Star or Get Duffy, while there are times when things get wild, like Medication, which would fit more with their previous album, or their cover of Motorhead's Motorhead, which to some extent is unrecognizable.
The fifth studio album by Primal Scream will reach No. 2 in the United Kingdom and will be their third and last album for the 1990s, as their next official album release will come after three years.
