About the album Playing The Angel
The eleventh album by Depeche Mode came out in 2005 and was a very pleasant surprise for the band's fans, as it seems to leave behind the experimental and minimalist approach of the previous album and return to its "classic" electronic sound. With Playing The Angel, a collaboration with producer Ben Hillier begins, with whom they would work on two more albums.
It is the first Depeche Mode album in which singer Dave Gahan contributes lyrics to three songs. These are Suffer Well, I Want It All, and Nothing's Impossible. Four successful singles emerged from the album. The first was Precious and the last was John The Revelator.
Its sales reached 1,600,000 copies worldwide, with a quarter of these sold in Germany.
