About the album Dr. Feelgood

Motley Crue sought major commercial success throughout the 1980s. Despite their albums being successful, the band hadn't expanded their audience as much as they would have liked. Thus, in 1988, they began recordings having secured a collaboration with producer Bob Rock. In 1989, they released Dr. Feelgood, an album that leaned more towards glam metal rather than pure American heavy metal.

The album was the greatest success in Motley Crue's career. The single Dr. Feelgood reached No. 6 on the Billboard chart, something that hadn't happened before and wasn't repeated. The video clip for Kickstart My Heart was a staple on MTV's agenda. Dr. Feelgood sold over 6,000,000 copies just in the United States.

Ultimately, the choice of Bob Rock as producer was extremely successful as he revamped their sound. On the other hand, Lars Ulrich of Metallica was so impressed by Bob Rock's work that he invited him to produce Metallica's next album... the one known as the Black Album...
