About the album Fragments Of Freedom
Fragments Of Freedom becomes the third album of the British band Morcheeba. In this album, which was released at the dawn of the first decade of the 21st century, trip-hop as a genre of music seems to have receded. Thus, although Morcheeba maintains their trip-hop sound that made them loved and known in the mid-'90s, they seem to adopt a more danceable - sometimes even disco - sound. Other moments they seem to flirt openly even with alternative rock.
The compositions are from the well-known trio consisting of Paul Godfrey, Ross Godfrey, and Skye Edwards. The first single was Rome Wasn't Built In A Day, followed shortly by Be Yourself and World Looking In.
The fact that Fragments Of Freedom didn't have a clear sound but went from one musical style to another song by song caused some concern and attracted some negative reviews. The album reached No. 6 on the UK charts, while its worldwide sales are estimated to be around 1,000,000.
