Psalm 69: The Way To Succeed And The Way To Suck Eggs by Ministry
About the album Psalm 69: The Way To Succeed And The Way To Suck Eggs
Psalm 69: The Way To Succeed And The Way To Suck Eggs - often referred to simply as Psalm 69 - is the fifth studio album by the American industrial metal band Ministry, which was released on July 14, 1992. The title comes from chapter 69 of Aleister Crowley's book "The Book of Lies". The phrase "The way to succeed and the way to suck eggs" is a Crowley pun on the sexual position "69" (suck seed / suck eggs). The cover features the word ΚΕΦΑΛΗΞΘ, which is a combination of the Greek word "κεφαλή" (chapter) and the Greek numerals "ΞΘ" (60+9 = 69).
The album includes some of the biggest hits in industrial music, such as N.W.O. (New World Order), which was nominated for a Grammy award and contains samples from George H.W. Bush, or Just One Fix, an iconic track that refers to drug addiction, featuring (in samples) author William S. Burroughs.
It is the most commercially successful album by Ministry, having gone platinum in the US. It is considered a landmark album for industrial metal, combining aggressive speed/thrash metal riffs with electronic elements and distorted vocals.
