About the album Sehnsucht
Sehnsucht is the second studio album by the German band Rammstein, which established them globally. It was first released in Germany on August 25, 1997, and in the USA in January 1998. It is the band's only album entirely in the German language that has gone platinum in the USA. It reached No. 1 on the charts in Germany and Austria.
The album cover is iconic and was created by Austrian artist Gottfried Helnwein. It includes six different versions, one for each member of the band. The members are depicted with white makeup and "strange" objects on their faces, which are actually old medical-surgical tools or everyday kitchen items (like forks and spatulas). The most widespread cover shows singer Till Lindemann with bent forks over his eyes. Sehnsucht contains some of the band's biggest hits, such as Du Hast, the song that made them famous internationally.
Sehnsucht by Rammstein is their most commercially successful album with total sales estimated at over 3.2 million copies worldwide.
