About the album Mutter
The German representatives of industrial metal, Rammstein, released their third studio album titled Mutter in 2001. The album is a highly provocative creation, with its provocation starting from the cover featuring the photo of a dead fetus, and extending into the sound of its eleven compositions.
The band began preparations for the album in September 1999. The recordings eventually took place during May and June of 2000 at Studio Miraval in France. Mutter yielded six singles, something that had never happened before and never happened again for a Rammstein album. The first single was Sonne, while the third single, Ich Will, became one of the band's biggest successes throughout their career. The album's production was handled by the band members and Swedish sound producer Jacob Hellner.
Mutter is one of Rammstein's most outstanding works. It is the second most commercially successful album by the Germans. Its sales have approached 1,500,000 copies worldwide, of which 900,000 have been sold in Germany. Mutter is the album that established Rammstein in the metal scene of the early twenty-first century.
