Right Time by Mighty Diamonds
About the album Right Time
Virgin Records was founded in 1972 and, wanting to offer the music-loving public of the planet new sounds, made some moves into music genres that were not particularly showcased. One move the company made was to send people to Jamaica to find reggae talented bands. One of those "discovered" was the trio of Mighty Diamonds.
Thus, the Mighty Diamonds signed a contract with Virgin and seven years after their formation, they released their first album, the legendary Right Time, in 1976. Right Time was recorded at Channel One Studios in Kingston, the capital of Jamaica. The producer, as well as the owner of the studio, was the Chinese-origin Joseph "Jo Jo" Hoo Kim (!)
The album contained a series of songs which the Mighty Diamonds had elevated to major hits in their country all the previous years. Unfortunately, the conflicts that broke out within Jamaica's "music industry" did not allow the album's performances to be documented. Nevertheless, Right Time experienced relative success in the United Kingdom. It took many years for reggae music enthusiasts around the world to discover the greatness of this debut.
