Die Chinesische Mauer by Michael Cretu
About the album Die Chinesische Mauer
The album Die Chinesische Mauer, meaning The Great Wall, is one of the most significant milestones in Michael Cretu's personal career. Die Chinesische Mauer of 1985 was the third solo album by Michael Cretu, the ingenious musician who later created the global phenomenon Enigma.
Die Chinesische Mauer moves in Synth-pop and Electronic paths, with elements that would later characterize the "Enigma sound," such as atmospheric synths and rhythmic experiments. The recording was done entirely in Cretu's personal studio, the Data Alpha Studio, in collaboration with producer Armand Volker. The lyrics are in German. However, an English version was also released, titled "The Invisible Man," with a different track order and some mix variations.
The song Samurai was the absolute hit of the record. In Greece, it achieved great success, reaching No.1, while it entered the top five in Italy, Switzerland, and Sweden.
