Industrial Silence by Madrugada
About the album Industrial Silence
Industrial Silence is the iconic debut of the Norwegian band Madrugada, released on August 30, 1999. The album belongs to the realm of alternative rock, combining elements from melancholic rock and blues & americana, while the music creates atmospheric landscapes that highlight the distinctive baritone voice of Sivert Høyem.
The recordings took place in 1998 and 1999 mainly in Halden, Norway. Additional recordings (overdubs) were done in Oslo and New Jersey, while the mixing was completed in New York by John Agnello. The production was signed by Kai Andersen together with the band. The cover was designed by the band's own members for the original 1999 release. It is characterized by a minimalist and dark aesthetic, which reflects the atmosphere of the album.
Industrial Silence reached No. 1 on the Norwegian charts. Its sales have exceeded 250,000 worldwide. The band won the Norwegian Spellemannprisen award in the "Rock" category in 2000. It is considered one of the most important albums of Scandinavian rock.
