About the album Link Wray & The Wraymen
Link Wray first appeared discographically in March 1958 with the single Rumble, which was an instrumental music piece lasting two and a half minutes. However, Link Wray and the band that accompanied him, the "Wraymen," wrote their own story in the magical world of rock 'n' roll as it was the first recorded song in which one could hear the distorted sound of the electric guitar.
The 1960 album Link Wray & The Wraymen includes Rumble and eleven more compositions, which had been released as singles and B-sides of singles from 1958 to 1960. Essentially, it is a collection of compositions that were written scattered in the familiar way of the 1950s, as the idea of the album had not yet been established.
It is worth noting that Rumble was banned from being played in New York and Boston for fear that it would incite teenagers' anger and lead them to fights or other criminal acts (!)
