Hopes And Fears by Keane
About the album Hopes And Fears
For a band that was formed in 1995, waiting until 2004 to release their first album, the nine years were rather a lot. However, the truth is that the wait and dedication of the members of Keane were worth the effort and then some. Hopes And Fears - which took three years of preparation and recording - became one of the landmark albums for the post-britpop era.
The "oldest" song on the album is She Has No Time from 1999, while On A Day Like Today and We Might As Well Be Strangers were the songs that were written last, towards the end of 2003. Most are creations of the three members of the group. For some, they also had the help of James Sanger, who was also the producer of the album.
The singles Somewhere Only We Know, Everybody's Changing, and This Is The Last Time supported the album and made it earn a place among the most popular albums for the '00s in the United Kingdom. Hopes And Fears is the eleventh best-selling album in the United Kingdom for the first decade of the twentieth century (!) Its global sales have reached 5,200,000 copies and it is the best-selling album of Keane.
