Okie by JJ Cale
About the album Okie
In 1974, JJ Cale released his third solo album, titled Okie. Okie includes twelve compositions. The songs were recorded in various studios between May and December of 1973 because JJ Cale did not have a stable base. The album was produced by Audie Ashworth.
The songs of Okie are a mix of country, blues, and gospel. Ten of the twelve songs are compositions by JJ Cale, and there are also two covers, "I'll Be There (If You Ever Want Me)" by Ray Price from 1954 and "Precious Memories," a traditional gospel song. Undoubtedly, the success of the album was "Cajun Moon," one of the compositions that defined the musical genre known as Tulsa Blues.
Okie reached No. 128 on the Billboard chart.
