The Power And The Glory by Jimmy Cliff
About the album The Power And The Glory
In 1983, the Jamaican Jimmy Cliff released the album The Power And The Glory, a reggae album with a clear pop orientation.
The recordings were made with the help of his band, Oneness. The presence of the experienced Jamaican guitarist Earl "Chinna" Smith was significant, while the group Kool & The Gang also contributed to some songs. However, the greatest contribution came from La Toya Jackson, who co-wrote with Jimmy Cliff the song Reggae Night, which became the biggest hit of the album. The success of the single was such that it was nominated – without winning – for the Grammy award for Best Reggae Recording.
The Power And The Glory as an album was mainly beloved in Europe. In France, due to its sales, it went gold.
