The Raw & The Cooked by Fine Young Cannibals
About the album The Raw & The Cooked
One of the most interesting albums at the very end of the '80s is the second and last album by the British band Fine Young Cannibals. The Raw & The Cooked, released in 1989, is a balanced combination of several different musical trends. Here, the listener can enjoy songs that encompass elements from soul and funk to dance-rock and pop.
The title of the album comes from the titular book by the French anthropologist Claude Lévi-Strauss, a book written in 1964. Five singles emerged from the album, with the standout being She Drives Me Crazy and Good Thing. The album closes with a cover of Ever Fallen In Love by the Buzzcocks. The production of The Raw & The Cooked belongs to the members of the band, Jerry Harrison of Talking Heads, and David Z.
The Raw & the Cooked surpassed 4,500,000 copies sold worldwide, while it reached very high positions in the Top-10 charts of many countries. It is worth mentioning that it was No.1 in both the United Kingdom and the United States of America. Unfortunately, in 1992 the band Fine Young Cannibals disbanded.
