About the album Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This)

The Eurythmics were preparing their second studio album in the attic of an old warehouse in the Chalk Farm area of London for about seven months during 1982. The sound of the second album differs noticeably from that of the first, as the shift to synth-pop is more than evident. In early 1983, the album was released under the general title Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This).

The first three singles of the new album were released in 1982 without any particular success, and they were This Is The House, The Walk, and Love Is A Stranger. Everything changed with the release of the fourth single, the title track Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This), which reached No.2 on the UK charts. The Eurythmics had just created their first legendary song and one of the most iconic songs of the 1980s.

The album reached No.3 in their homeland and No.15 in the United States. The album's sales now approach 1,300,000 copies. The beginning for the Eurythmics had been made.
