About the album Honky Château

Elton John with his 1972 Honky Château manages to reach No. 1 on the Billboard for the first time. Honky Château is a perfectly balanced album that moves between pop and rock music. The British artist begins to take off and show his great value and inexhaustible talent.

The album was mainly recorded at Château d'Hérouville, a mansion a few kilometers outside Paris, and partly provided half of the album's title. The album was produced by Gus Dudgeon, while the compositions were once again the result of the collaboration between Elton John and Bernie Taupin. In this particular album, Elton John begins his collaborations with guitarist Dee Murray and drummer Nigel Olsson, two collaborations that will prove to be extremely enduring over time.

Honky Château reached No. 2 in the United Kingdom, where due to its sales it went gold. In Canada, Australia, and the United States of America, its sales made it platinum.
