Duran Duran by Duran Duran
About the album Duran Duran
Duran Duran were formed in 1978 in Birmingham, England. They quickly joined the New Wave music movement by following the synth-pop offshoot. Their first album came in 1981 and bore the name of the band as its title. Success for the Britons began in the United States thanks to something coincidental. In 1981, MTV had just entered the lives of the American television audience, constantly showing the provocative video clip of the album's third single, Girls on Film. This created quite a buzz around the young Brits.
An important figure in the creation of the album was the producer Colin Thurston, whose experience guided the five members to understand how a band should function during the recording of an album. It was as if he united all five of them, as if he made them become a team. This would be extremely useful in the following years.
The album Duran Duran reached No. 3 in Britain and No. 10 in the U.S. The album's sales have reached 2,500,000 copies.
