A year after the breakup of Steely Dan, Donald Fagen releases his first solo album, The Nightfly, and experiences a small triumph.
Donald Fagen creates a nightscape of incredible relaxed atmosphere drawn from the late '50s. The cover itself gives you a hint of what you will hear, as Fagen is photographed as a radio producer from that era. According to its creator, it is an autobiographical album that references what he experienced and what he remembered from his childhood years.
The album sold 1,000,000 copies in the USA and another 300,000 in Great Britain.
