About the album Exciter
After what happened during the recordings of Ultra, Depeche Mode returned discographically after four years, in 2001, with Exciter. The band is now stabilized as a trio and, in collaboration for the first time with producer Mark Bell, who was primarily a DJ and member of an electronic music group, LFO, they prepare the tenth album of Depeche Mode.
Exciter musically moves in extreme atmospheric and electronic worlds. Martin Gore has stated that this might have been influenced by the fact that at that time, he himself was listening to that kind of music.
The album has sold nearly 3,000,000 copies worldwide, and its tour is one of the most successful in their career as it brought them to 24 countries, playing in front of 1,500,000 fans of the band in 84 concerts.
