A Broken Frame by Depeche Mode
About the album A Broken Frame
Depeche Mode with A Broken Frame in 1982 start a new period in their career. Vince Clarke has left and the band is in search of his replacement. Alan Wilder responds to the related advertisement, is accepted, but only for some live appearances of the band. Depeche Mode enter the studio as a trio in December 1981 and the recordings will last until July 1982.
In the meantime, they have released two singles, See You and The Meaning Of Love, which will make a respectable journey on the UK charts. A Broken Frame did not receive the best reviews. Martin Gore himself, who wrote all the songs on the album, stated during the promotion period of Violator that he regretted his compositions on that particular album, describing them as a hodgepodge.
In their homeland, the album will reach No. 8 and its sales now number 100,000 in Britain. The production was by Depeche Mode and Daniel Miller, who was the founder of Mute Records.
