Crowded House by Crowded House
About the album Crowded House
The band Crowded House was formed in Melbourne in 1985, and the following year their self-titled debut was ready. Crowded House, combining musical elements from new wave, blue-eyed soul, and rock, and wrapping them in a respectable pop packaging, make a difference and manage to make their presence felt in the world of pop & rock music in the mid-1980s.
The album, and the band, got the name Crowded House due to the fact that the recordings took place in Los Angeles, where the band members all lived together in a small apartment to cut down on their accommodation expenses. Most of the compositions on the album belong to the New Zealander Neil Finn, who was one of the founding members of the group and the band's lead singer.
The album's great international success was the single Don't Dream It's Over. Crowded House reached No.1 in Australia and No.12 on the Billboard chart. In Australia, it is considered one of the best pop albums ever released in the country.
