Burnin' by Bob Marley & The Wailers
About the album Burnin'
Burnin' was released on October 19, 1973, by Island Records and is the sixth studio album by Bob Marley & The Wailers. It is the last album of the original trio (Marley, Tosh, Wailer) before Peter Tosh and Bunny Wailer left for solo careers.
The basic recordings were made at Harry J's Studio in Kingston, Jamaica. The mixing and overdubbing took place at Island's Basing Street Studios in London in the spring of 1973. The production is credited to The Wailers themselves and Chris Blackwell. Eric Clapton's cover of I Shot the Sheriff in 1974 reached No.1 in the U.S., catapulting the popularity of reggae worldwide. Get Up, Stand Up was the second single from the album, a composition by Marley and Tosh.
The album reached No.151 on the Billboard 200 and No.41 on the Black Albums chart. In 2007, Burnin' was added to the National Recording Registry of the U.S. Library of Congress due to its cultural significance.
