Main Course by Bee Gees
About the album Main Course
With Main Course in 1975, the Bee Gees reach their eleventh studio album. With Main Course, the Bee Gees begin their rising international career, which will be built in the immediately following years.
Main Course is an album in which pop, soul, funk, and R&B are combined. The songs are compositions by the three Gibb brothers. The Bee Gees collaborate on the production with Arif Mardin for the second consecutive album, who played an important role in the development of the Bee Gees' sound as he suggested they use synthesizers and new technology bass. The last song recorded for the album was Baby As You Turn Away, in which Barry Gibb tries singing with the well-known falsetto for the first time, which would be decisive for what followed in the Bee Gees' career.
The success of the singles Jive Talkin’ and Nights On Broadway made the album go double platinum in Canada, also reaching the top of the success charts, while in the United States of America it went gold with sales of around 500,000 copies.
