About the album Lady Soul

In 1968, Aretha Franklin released her thirteenth studio album titled Lady Soul. The title represents exactly what she had managed to become with her previous album I Never Loved a Man the Way I Love You and truly defends the title she had been given. Aretha had come to stay.

The same formula was followed. Recording at Atlantic studios with producer Jerry Wexler and compositions by herself and the best in soul music of that era (James Brown, Curtis Mayfield, Carole King, etc.). Among the names of the musicians participating are Eric Clapton, Joe South, and Bobby Womack.

Three of the four singles from the album made it into the Top-10 of the Billboard and drove the entire album to No.1 in the U.S., while on the R&B charts it remained at No.1 for sixteen weeks.
