About the album I Never Loved A Man The Way I Love You

The album I Never Loved A Man The Way I Love You was Aretha Franklin's tenth album and marked a milestone. A milestone for her, as it was her first album for Atlantic Records and the album that highlighted and established her as one of the most legendary figures in soul music. Additionally, it was a milestone album for all of soul music and beyond.

The album was recorded from January 10 to February 26, 1967, and by March it was available to the public, who loved it and brought it to No. 2 on the Billboard within a few weeks. The producer of the album was Jerry Wexler. The song that opened the album was Respect, a composition by Otis Redding. It became the song that characterized Aretha Franklin like no other, and it is unnecessary to say that on this record she offers us some of the most stunning performances of her career.

In its time, I Never Loved A Man The Way I Love You played the role of the manifesto of a young woman trying to find her steps in a changing world, which was not far from the social reality in the United States in the late '60s.
