Annie Lennox's debut was highly anticipated since Eurythmics had definitively and irrevocably become a thing of the past. Thus, Diva (with its ironic title and cover) in 1992 attracted a lot of attention.
According to statements by the songwriter herself, the lyrics of the songs in Diva are purely experiential or at least stem from her own thoughts on how she sees things, as it is very difficult for her to write about other people by placing herself in their position.
Annie Lennox and her voice managed to impress and convert this into 7,000,000 album sales worldwide.
